The Sao Paulo (San Pablo) vs River Plate Copa Libertadores match will be held this Wednesday, April 13, 2016 (5:45 PM Pacific) at the Morumbi. As the most noteworthy Libertadores match-up of the week, this game is important as both Argentinians and Brazilians are in a deep battle to earn their pass into the next round.

Sao Paulo faces a serious encounter this Wednesday at home when they receive the always difficult, historic, and reigning champions River Plate. The Brazilian side has not fared as well as they would like but they are still with great possibility to reach the knock-out round. After 4 games, Sao Paulo is 3rd of Group 1 with 5 points after 1 win, 2 ties, and 1 loss. If the team coached by Edgardo Bauza wins, they would reach 8 points and hold the top of the group along River Plate. A loss would allow them to have a slim chance to reach the next round.

River Plate has a great opportunity to win the group once-and-for-all if they win on the road. After 4 games, they sit on top of the group with 8 points, and a win in Brazil will guarantee their qualification into the next round.

TV Schedule

The Sao Paulo vs River Plate match will be televised on Fox Deportes at 5:45 PM Pacific.

  1. The Club name is Sao Paulo not San Pablo, names should never be translated. It is disrespectful. Why didn’t you translate River Plate’s name to Rio Plata, like Blatter did and everyone there was offended afterwards. Double standards.

    • Simply, it was done to attract the Argentinian fan base as they refer to São Paulo in its Spanish translation. While in Mexico we call it by it’s correct Portuguese form, Argentinians call it San Pablo. In other words, we want to invite both Argentinians and Brazilians to read.
