Turning the tables: Manchester United looking to beat Chelsea to star striker’s signing

After losing out on Pedro, Manchester United are looking to beat Chelsea to the signing of Alexandre Pato – according to reports from the Daily Telegraph

Manchester United were left red faced after losing out on the signing of Pedro to Chelsea despite being linked with the winger for almost a month.

Missing out on the signing of Pedro can be seen as a huge blow for United and the Red Devils are now left scurrying in the transfer market in their pursuit to sign a new striker.

With only a week remaining before the end of the transfer window, United most certainly do not have much time to bring in a new front man and it remains to be seen whether the Premier League giants will be able to save face before September 1.

Alexandre Pato could be set for United move

Unsurprisingly, a host of names continue to get linked with a move to Old Trafford and now according to reports from the Daily Telegraph, United are pondering a swoop for Alexandre Pato.

Pato has been made available for a transfer this summer and has been offered to a host of European clubs by Corinthians.

A fee of around £11million would be enough to lure Pato away from Corinthians and reports have claimed that United are pondering a bid for the Brazilian international.

Even Chelsea are said to be interested in signing Pato but United are intent on not losing out to their rivals this time around and it is expected that the striker is more likely to end up at Old Trafford than Stamford Bridge.
