Strongest Manchester United Lineup vs Club Brugge (Image): Star to finally start?

Manchester United will look to seal their place in the Champions League when they square off against Club Brugge for the second leg of the UEFA Champions League playoff qualifiers at the Jan Breydelstadion on Monday night and the match will be a real test for the Red Devils.

United managed a comfortable 3-1 victory over Brugge in the first leg at Old Trafford last week but the away goal conceded means that Louis van Gaal’s men cannot afford to head into the second leg with any complacency on their minds.

The Red Devils were a bit uninspiring during the 0-0 draw against Newcastle United on Saturday and they will most certainly have to put in an improved performance on Tuesday night in what looks set to be a tough clash.

Here is the Strongest Possible Lineup for Manchester United against Club Brugge –

Goalkeeper

Sergio Romero has kept three consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League and while he did concede against Brugge last week, the Argentine is proving to be a safe pair of hands in goal for United.

Romero will undoubtedly be starting once again and the goalkeeper will have to be on his guard against a Brugge side which will head into the game with intentions of playing attacking football.

Defence

Even the United backline has been solid as ever this season and van Gaal will surely not be thinking about tinkering with the personnel at the back.

Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian have been impressive in the full back positions while the duo of Chris Smalling and Daley Blind are striking up a wonderful partnership at the heart of the defence.

The likes of Jonny Evans, Tyler Blackett and Paddy McNair have not been handed starts as of yet and they look unlikely to be featuring given the form of the aforementioned quartet.

Midfield

Bastian Schweinsteiger was handed his first start against Newcastle United on Saturday and although he did well, the German international does not look completely fit at the moment.

As a result, Michael Carrick should make a return to the starting lineup alongside Morgan Schneiderlin at the middle of the park.

Further ahead, Adnan Januzaj looks likely to be continuing in his attacking midfield role and the wide positions will be occupied by the duo of Juan Mata and Memphis Depay. Ander Herrera has been surprisingly not used by van Gaal often but the Spaniard could be handed a chance in midweek.

The likes of Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia will also be waiting in the wings if van Gaal decides to change things around for the clash.

Attack

Wayne Rooney was unlucky to have his goal disallowed against Newcastle United but overall, it has to be said that the striker did not looked at his best once again on Saturday.

Rooney will surely be given a chance to find his form against Brugge in midweek but one can be sure that van Gaal will be hoping that his captain can improve on his performances so far this season.
