Liverpool given the green light to sign prolific international striker for free

Premier League side Liverpool have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Andre Pierre Gignac after the striker reportedly rejected a lucrative offer from Dynamo Moscow

It is no secret that one of the main reasons why Liverpool struggled last season was due to their incapability of sufficiently replacing former talisman Luis Suarez.

In order to negate the loss of Suarez, manager Brendan Rodgers brought in the likes of Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert but it was evident that the duo could not even come close to matching Suarez’s goal scoring feats.

As a result, Rodgers will now have to right his wrongs from the previous transfer window and bring in a top quality striker to the club this summer.

Liverpool free to pursue Gignac

Names such as Danny Ings, Edinson Cavani and Edin Dzeko have been mentioned as targets for Liverpool over the past week or so and it was recently revealed that Andre Pierre Gignac is also in Rodgers’ radar.

Given the fact that Gignac is available on a free transfer after he decided not to extend his stay at Marseille, he had been seen as an attractive proposition for the Reds but it was feared that Liverpool could lose out on the signing of the striker to Dynamo Moscow as he had already been offered a lucrative contract by the Russian side.

As a huge boost to Liverpool though, it has been reported that Gignac has rejected Dynamo’s offer and is instead eyeing a move to one of the top European leagues.

The Metro claim that Gignac has snubbed Dynamo’s offer of a three-year contract worth £7.5million and consequently, Liverpool have been cleared to pursue the striker.

Gignac enjoyed a prolific season in front of goal for Marseille last year by finding the back of the net on 23 occasions and he could well prove to be an astute signing for the Reds.
