Done Deal: Manchester United beat the deadline to sign promising youngster

Old Trafford

Despite a plethora of names being linked with a move to Manchester United during the January transfer window, the Red Devils were very quiet throughout the month and ironically, there were more departures rather than incomings to Old Trafford.

It seemed for a long time that the only transfer United would complete during the window was the signing of goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

Much to the surprise of many though, United have indeed conducted a bit of business during the deadline day by securing the services of young Bolton Wanderers defender Andy Kellett.

Manchester United complete the shock signing Andy Kellett

United confirmed the signing of the 21-year old by releasing the following statement in their official website, “Manchester United have signed Andy Kellett from Bolton Wanderers on loan until the end of the season, with Reds defender Saidy Janko going in the opposite direction on the same terms.”

Fans could be forgiven for being in the dark regarding who Kellett is. After all, the young man has made only four senior appearances for Bolton and had recently been spending time on loan at League Two side Plymouth Argyle.

Therefore, many have failed to articulate why United have purchased the young defender. Nonetheless, Kellett is regarded highly and is expected to join the Red Devils’ under-21 squad as he hopes to break into the first team in the foreseeable future.
