Liverpool to sign Stunning WONDERKID

Liverpool have been left in a state of shock after inspirational captain Steven Gerrard announced that he will  be leaving the Reds at the end of the current season and rightly so.

Gerrard has been the heart and soul for Liverpool for over 15 years now and although the midfielder is not the same player he once was; his presence will most certainly be missed by Liverpool.

Nonetheless, life has to go on for Liverpool even without their talismanic star and now manager Brendan Rodgers has a tough job on his hands to bring back the glory days to Anfield.

Rodgers is not a manager who standstill and dwells on the past though, and the Northern Irishman is already planning for life without Gerrard.

The Liverpool boss has made moves in an attempt to secure the future of star winger Raheem Sterling on a five year deal and at the same time, he is also looking at a couple of talented players to bring in over the next few months.

Among the players Rodgers is said to be looking to acquire, Leeds United wonderkid Lewis Cook has emerged as a realistic target for the Reds.

Cook is an extremely talented young midfielder who has burst into the scene this season with some wonderful performances and has become a key player for Leeds United.

At just 17, Cook is touted for great things in the future and it has been no surprise to see the midfielder attracting the interest of a host of top Premier League sides.

Given Rodgers’ faith in young players, Liverpool are also among the teams interested in and the Reds’ scout were said to be in attendance to closely monitor Cook during Leeds United’s 2-0 loss at the hands of Derby County at iPro Stadium on December 30.

It remains to be seen at what price Leeds United value Cook but it will not be a meagre one and Liverpool will most certainly have to splash a lot of cash in order to be able to land the 17-year old.
