Liverpool have already played a number of their young players in some matches this season. Raheem Sterling, Philippe Coutinho, Jon Flanagan and Joao Teixeira are some potential young players in the Liverpool squad. Especially Sterling and Coutinho, they have been regular players in some important games and have turned out to be the key players in the team.

Apparently, Brendan Rodgers has already had big faith in his young guns, as they are also important parts of the Liverpool squad.

“We’ve had a 19-year-old in Raheem playing out wide, Jon Flanagan is only 21, Philippe Coutinho is 21 and Jordan Henderson is 23. Other young players have come off the bench in matches and been excellent. They are concentrating on performance and it’s my job to release that pressure from them so they can play,” said Rodgers.

The skipper, Steven Gerrard, also admires one of the young players, Joao Teixeira, who came in as a substitute in the game against Fulham at Craven Cottage. As a matter of fact, the 21-year-old Portuguese had already caught Gerrard’s attention when he played against Liverpool in a youth game at Anfield.

“It has only been a matter of time. I watched this kid a couple of years ago playing for Sporting Lisbon against Liverpool at Anfield in a youth game; I could see straight away he was the best player on the pitch,” the captain said.

On the other hand, the Portuguese midfielder expressed his gratitude to his manager and teammates as he was given a chance to make his first-team debut against Fulham. Although he only played for nine minutes as a substitute, he felt happy and confident.

“I want to say thank-you to the boss and all my teammantes for helping me to improve every day. I have been working to be here and make my debut. I am really happy because we won the game,” he said (Liverpool).

In short, although Raheem Sterling, Jon Flanagan, Philippe Coutinho and Joao Teixeira are still young players in the Liverpool team, Brendan Rodgers has already placed big faith on them. In return, they have done their best and have shown their excellent performance.
