The Leon vs Pachuca Liga MX round four match will take place this Saturday, January 25, 2014 (6:05 PM Pacific) at the Camp Nou. The defending Liga MX champion will want to continue its amazing home streak by defeating a Pachuca squad that has looked unimpressive through three Liga MX games.

Leon are coming off a Week 3 loss to Club America at the Estadio Azteca, in a match where bad calls by the ref shifted the match in favor of Club America (what a shock!). Leon have looked bad in away matches, first drawing 1-1 at Atlante, then losing at the Azteca. However, La Fiera is great at home, in Week 2, they defeated Atlas 3-1 in a very convincing win. Coach Matosas should be able to motivate his players for another good showing in front of the home fans.

Pachuca earned their first win of the season last week, when they defeated Xolos 2-1 at the Estadio Hidalgo. Although they looked awful for most of the match, and arguably did not deserve to win, the Tuzos still got the three points. Nonetheless, coach Ojitos Meza can’t hide the fact that his team simply does not play well. If Pachuca play the first 60 minutes against Leon the same way they did against Tijuana last week, they will come out with a lopsided loss.

Key Players

The player to watch for Leon is Carlos Peña, the box to box midfielder has been fantastic, recovering balls, creating attacks, and scoring. Peña has already scored three goals this season, and has made it clear that he is the best Mexican midfielder at the moment. For Pachuca, the key player is Oscar Conejo Perez, the aging goalkeeper. Perez is the sole reason Pachuca stuck around against Tijuana, and he has the quality to upset Leon’s attackers.

Note: Luis Montes will be unavailable for Leon, as he will be serving a suspension.

Leon vs Pachuca Prediction

Since last season, Leon has been absolutely outstanding at home, it appears the players are motivated every time they play in front of the rowdy home fans. Pachuca has not looked good this season (or in a long time actually), and I simply don’t see them being able to stop Leon. La Fiera will end up with a 1-0 home victory.
