The first leg of the Alajuelense vs Herediano final will take place this Monday, December 16, 2013 (6:00 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto. The game to take place in Alajuela, will be an intense match between the top two seeded teams in the Costa Rica first division. In what is expected to be a great final, not only do the top two teams meet, but also the team with the best offense (Herediano), and the team with the best defense (Alajuelense).
Alajuelense finished the regular season in second place with 47 points; 2 points behind the leader Herediano. The team coached by Oscar Ramirez is not the favorite to win the title, however, they had the second best offense in the tournament, with the best defense. The ‘rojinegros’ are not as aggressive offensively as Herediano, however, they play to control possession of the ball. If they are able to control the midfield, then this team could defeat Herediano in the first leg.
Herediano has been impressive throughout the entire Torneo de Invierno. The team coached by Marvin Solano finished in first place, had the second best defense with only 23 goals against, and scored a nice total of 49 goals. ‘El Team’ will have a difficult game in Alajuela, as it will be a battle to use their biggest strength against the best defense in the competition.
