The Leon vs Xolos Tijuana match will take place this Saturday, November 9, 2013 (6:00 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Nou Camp.  While Leon is already qualified into the Apertura 2013 playoffs, they still need a win to secure a place in the Copa Libertadores 2014.  Meanwhile, Xolos of Tijuana are in a much more difficult situation, as they need a win plus a mixture of other results to reach the Liga MX ‘liguilla.’

The ‘panzas verdes’ have been a fierce title contender throughout the season.  If they defeat Tijuana, Leon will reach 30 points and finish the season in third place which will take them to the intercontinental tournament next year.  However, reaching the Libertadores is not their only priority come Saturday’s match, as a loss could push them down to the 6th playoff seed; thus, eliminate their home advantage.

On the other hand, the team coached by Jorge Almiron has disappointed this Apertura 2013.  Xolos never seemed to satisfy their loyal fans, as there has been a radical shift since Antonio Mohamed left the team.  While it has been a forgettable season, Club Tijuana has improved its performances lately, as in the past four matches they have been undefeated with 2 wins and 2 ties; only 1 goal against.

In order to save the season, Xolos will need to win against their Liga de Acsenso rivals in the always difficult Nou Camp.  Also, they require for Tigres and Queretaro to tie or lose their matches.  If things go their way, Xolos will finish the season in 8th place, and will play Club America in the playoffs.
