The Cruz Azul vs Tigres Liga MX Week 10 game will take place this Saturday, September 14, 2013 (3:00 PM Pacific) at Estadio Azul in Mexico City. The always competitive Cruz Azul will want to continue its good form by defeating a Tigres squad that is starving for points.

Halfway through the season, Cruz Azul sits in 6th place with 16 points, right in the middle of the playoff spots. The runner-up of the Clausura 2013 appears poised to make back-to-back appearances in the playoffs. Coach Vazquez has done a good job at keeping his talented team motivated throughout the season.

Last week, Cruz Azul went to Toluca and defeated the Diablos Rojos 2-1. This was a must-needed win, as it provided positive momentum that the team lost after having been defeated by Queretaro in Week 8 at the Estadio Azul. Now, Cruz Azul will go on and face a weak Tigres that is having a bad season.

Tigres has earned just nine points after eight matches, sitting in 13th place of the standings. Tuca’s team is currently on a three game win-less streak, and has shown no signs of improvement. Last week, Tigres suffered an embarrassing 3-3 home draw against Chivas, one of the worst teams in the Liga MX. The only positive from the match, is that Tigres was able to recover from a 3-0 deficit.

Tigres does have several aspects going in its favor for the match against Cruz Azul. First, Tito Villa has recuperated from the injury that has kept him off the pitch for the last couple of weeks. The striker will be available for the match against Cruz Azul, and it will be up to Tuca to see whether he plays or not. Second, Tigres’ supporters have decided to travel in numbers to the Estadio Azul, and make a presence. It is estimated that nearly 10,000 Tigres fans will be present at the often half-empty Estadio Azul. This could provide an extra boost to the struggling Tigres.

Cruz Azul vs Tigres Prediction

Even with the return of Tito Villa and the support of the traveling fans, Tigres is still a big underdog in this match. Cruz Azul has been playing well all season long, and should be able to overcome a weakened Tigres. Look for Cruz Azul to dominate the match, and come out with the win. The Cruz Azul vs Tigres match will end in a 2-0 victory for the Mexico City based team.
