The Chivas vs Necaxa Copa MX match will be held this Wednesday, August 7, 2013 (5:00 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Omnilife. Chivas and Necaxa share Group 6 with Leon and Dorados, currently Chivas and Leon are sitting in the first place spot with 3 points each. Only the first placed team will move on to the quarterfinals.
Chivas and Necaxa faced each other on July 23, with the match ending 2-1 in favor of Guadalajara. Chivas now wants to sweep the series by earning a home victory over Necaxa at the Estadio Omnilife. A draw or loss would jeopardize their chances of finishing the group in first place, as Liga MX rival, Leon, is also aiming to win its game against Dorados.
Like in almost every season under the Vergara ownership, Chivas appears to be in chaos. Supposedly, Vergara spoke with the players about recent issues in the team re: going out partying. Add to this the fact the team has under-performed in its first three Liga MX games (4 points), and you have a recipe for failure.
Coach Galindo is already under heavy pressure to perform, and a negative result against Necaxa in the Copa MX could very well bring on one of the dreaded Vergara ultimatums. Nonetheless, considering the poor level that Necaxa demonstrated in Aguascalientes against Chivas in the first match, and the fact the Chivas will have the full support of its 50 fans (yes, I’m making fan of the notorious lack of fans at the Estadio Omnilife) that will be in attendance, I can almost guarantee a Chivas victory.
Chivas vs Necaxa Prediction
The Chivas vs Necaxa match will be a good contest in a near empty Estadio Omnilife. As the home team, and under pressure to perform, Chivas will be forced to control the flow of the game and look for the win. Chivas will dominate and come out with the victory. The Chivas vs Necaxa match will end in a 3-0 win for the ‘Rebaño Sagrado’.
