The Correcaminos vs Dorados Copa MX championship match ended up being the exciting encounter everyone expected and hoped for. The match featured Chelis, Cuauhtemoc Blanco, ref mistakes, last-minute goals, and a penalty shootout.

Dorados took an early lead in the 4th minute with a goal from Lencho Ramirez. In the 40th minute, the ref committed a huge mistake and red-carded Dorados defender, Osuna, for a supposed handball inside the penalty area. Correcaminos scored in the ensuing penalty kick and tied the game 1-1.

The second half was dominated by Correcaminos, which attacked non-stop and had several clear goal-scoring opportunities. The 2-1 goal for Correcaminos didn’t come until the 81st minute, when Nurse scored an easy goal in front of the net. It looked like it was all over for Dorados: one-man down, with little attacking chances in the second half.

It wasn’t over though. In the 91st minute, Dorados earned a corner kick, the entire team went up, including Dorados’ goalie Frausto. Frausto received a ball that bounced in front of him, and he kicked it in for the miraculous goal. The game went directly to penalty kicks.

Correcaminos missed their 4th penalty kick, but scored its fifth. Dorados scored its first four penalty kicks, including a perfect shot by Cuauhtemoc Blanco. Dorados’ fifth penalty kick would be taken by none other than Frausto, the goalie that had scored the last-minute equalizing goal for Dorados. Frausto readied himself and blasted the ball into the back of the net. Dorados are the first champion of the new version of the Copa MX.
