Luis Perez to Chivas de Guadalajara

Luis Ernesto Perez, the long-time Monterrey midfielder, appears to have been signed by Chivas de Guadalajara. It what can be seen as the largest acquisition of the Mexican transfer period, it is reported that Chivas paid $4 million dollars and has closed the deal. Luis Perez will be the key player in the Chivas midfield, and it appears that Vergara is trying to improve his offense by adding Rafa Marquez Lugo to the team as well.

If Chivas de Guadalajara can add Lugo to the team, and keep the services of Marco Fabian, the offensive power of the team will be greatly improved. However, we still have to wait and see if there will be any improvements on the defensive side of the team, or if Chivas will continue playing with elements from its youth team. Overall, it appears that Vergara has finally given Chivas the respect this team deserves: bringing in a top-notch coaching staff, changing the synthetic turf from Omnilife Stadium, and spending a sizable amount of money on a tested midfielder.

Can Chivas finally achieve another long-awaited championship?
